Azure Cloud: Create static web html application on Azure Cloud. Fun!

You can serve static content (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and image files) directly from a container in a Azure storage.

  1. Login into the Azure Portal using your account or sign up.
  2. Go to Azure https://portal.azure.com/#home and click on Storage tile’s create link.

3. Create a new resource group called “website”.
4. Give new name to the storage “website214”. it has to be globally unique.
5. Select the region close to you and close the Review +Create button.

6. After all input values are verified successfully, you can finally click on the create button.
7. You will see now ‘deployment in process’ page and should render success in few seconds.
8. Find the storage you have just created and click on the Static Website menu on left hand side of the panel.
9. Enable Static website option and provide the documents’ information for hosting as shown below.

10. Once successfully accepted above parameter values, you can see Azure Storage back-end has created a new container called “$web” container.

11. go to “$web” container and upload the index.html and custom404.html file as shown below. You can use the copy of index.html and change the message and title for custom404.html file.

12. Change the Access level of the $web folder as shown below.

12. We have website up and running!
